Why is it called "God save the king" that is not the french royal flag. With the exception of the reign of Napoleon the third, who was not a royal technically, it's the flag of french republicanism. IT'S THE FLAG THEY FLIED WHEN THEY DECAPITATED THE ROYALS
They could have used the french royal flag but they did not.
